We departed our charming Venice hotel this morning - by private water taxi of course! - & made the short transfer to the Tronchetto bus parking area where we met our driver Martino for the journey by road to Florence.
After a smooth journey & just a short rest stop we arrived in Florence around Noon & began our exploration of the city by riding the local city bus into the historic center.
There was free time for lunch, then we met our expert local guide, Ulrich, in the shadow of Florence's magnificent cathedral. Ulrich led us on an educational walking tour of Florence, teaching us about the Renaissance along the way.
After our group dinner this evening, at the Osteria dei Baronchelli, we walked back to the hotel - passing the stunning Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), looking even more special in the evening sunlight!
Tomorrow we'll discover the treasuresof the Uffizi Gallery art museum, home to many of the greatest works of Renaissance art...
