The group arrived today into Venice's Marco Polo airport, coming on five different flights from Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington DC, & Nassau! Unfortunately the first few flights were all delayed, but by the time the final travelers arrived (a little ahead of schedule) everyone else had arrived. After multiple private water taxi transfers into Venice - the most glamorous & fun way to arrive - we all met up at our hotel & took an afternoon walking tour through Venice, concentrating today on the area closest to our hotel in the Santa Croce neighborhood.
There was time to freshen-up before dinner, tonight in the nearby 'Ristorante Dolfin', & by the time dinner ended everyone was ready for bed at the end of a long but exciting first day in Italy.
Tomorrow: We'll explore Venice's most famous areas with a local expert, visiting the Basilica of Saint Mark, watch a glass-blowing demonstration, & take a gondola ride...
